Wow I didn't think that answer would be so much of an enlightment I'll have to give it a try. I like listening to what the musician is singing about because most songs have a "reason" unless its something like, Burger Baby from Gravy Train. I'll try it out for sure. Yup I like music with a reason or a message too Unfortunaly there isn't quite enough of that in popular music I think

L'arc en Ciel

Started: 1991 Status: Active
Profile L’arc en Ciel was formed by Tetsu in 1991. The band consisted of Hyde, Tetsu, Hiro, and Pero. Tetsu choose the name of the band. L’arc en Ciel literally means arc in the sky in French, or can otherwise be referred to as a rainbow. As the band began to make a name for itself, it hit two blows when Hiro and Pero left in 1992. As a result, Ken and Sakura were invited to join the band. In 1993 L’arc en Ciel released its first album, DUNE. It hit #1 on the oricon ranking! Their success continued and in 1997, their album True sold over a million copies. Sakura later left the band due to drug problems, and Yukihiro came aboard. L’arc en Ciel has continued to produce hit after hit. They took a break in 2000 and just released their newest album, Awake, in 2005. They also did the opening song, Ready, Steady, Go! for the anime Full Metal Alchemist.

Malice Mizer
Vocals: Tetsu, then Gackt, and finally Klaha Guitar: Kozi Bass: Yu~ki Guitar/Keyboards: Mana Piano: Gaz, later Gackt Drums: Gaz, later Kami
Started: 1992 Status: Disbanded
Profile This band was formed in 1992 by Mana and Kozi (both on guitar/synthesizer), with Tetsu on vocals, Yu~ki on bass, and Gaz on drums. Their first release was "Speed of Desperation" on the compilation "Brain Trash". Soon after the release, Gaz quit and joined KnueKlid Romance, at which KnueKlid Romance’s drummer, Kami, joined Malice Mizer. Memiore, their first album, was released in 1994, on Mana’s Indie music label, Midi:Nette. Not long after, Tetsu left the band.
Most fans of Malice Mizer remember the years 1995 - 1999 the most. The band, after losing Tetsu, replaced him with Gackt. About this time, thanks to Gackt, they became less "goth" and sung lyrics more about romance. Their second album was released (Voyage~sans retour~, which ultimately translates to "Voyage Without Return"). When the band signed on to Nippon Columbia, a label, in 1997, they became much more popular. Here, they released many single and even a short film (Bel Air), along with their own radio show. In January of 1999, when Malice Mizer had become the most popular, Gackt left the band to start his solo career.
A few months after Gackt left, the drummer, Kami, died of a subarachnoid hemorrhage (don't ask me what it is...o__o). In his honor, they released a compilation of songs which he wrote in his name, and they also never replaced him, instead using support drummers. With no vocalist and real drummer (which they wanted to keep that way), they recruited Klaha. They dropped Gackt’s influences of romance and readopted their more official and more accurate goth look. In 2000, they released their last album, Bara No Seidou, followed by a a live show, which featured pyrotechnics. They starred in a movie in 2001 called Bara no Konrei, which was ultimately about vampires, released three more singles, including Beast of Blood, but they finally decided to disband (2001).

DinoGrawr wrote:Maybe someone can answer my question? =]
Okay, I'm not a big ol'fan of JMusic and so on. Why? Because first, I don't speak any of the languages. I know I could totally look up the lyrics and everything.. But I don't see really what's the point of listening to something and not really fully understanding it. A lot of it sounds really pretty though.
I don't know. Maybe that's just mee?
Someone enlighten me a bit?
Or am I missing something?Late answer, but better than nothing... First: The thing that is most confusing is what you ask about?? I don't really see the question. So i'm gonna answer to this: "Is it me or is it meaningless to listen to music where you don't understand the lyrics?" I don't think it's meaningless at all, i also listen to a lot of J-pop and such, but i don't really get what they are saying! So, why am i listening to it then? Just because i like it, and i don't care about the lyrics that much, because i like the frythm ion the music and i also like that type of music. So what if you don't understand what they are singing in the music you are listening to? If you like the music, then that should be more than good enough of a reason to listen to it. Music wasn't made to understand the lyrics, but it was made to enjoy and like...
