Yes, you're far off by miles....
Kaname is only a few years older than yuuki... And if you have read the recent chapters, then you'll understand how wrong you are
To sum it up:
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG..... Yes, Kaname loves yuuki, but not as he was in family that way..... Everyone knows, yuuki was born to love Kaname ^^ (it's a hidden meaning in that text, read and find out ^)

Cause he actually planned out things well.
And he always respects Yuki and not to hurt her by changing her into a vampire if she doesn't want to.

Kaname being an ancestor i'm not so sure bout that but i read it and don't really get it unless they released more chapters.

i think kaname is essentially a good guy. his pacifism, his love for yuuki, his trying to treat other people decently--all these make me love him. i'm glad, however, that he isn't just a flat, unidimensional prince charming character. there's an evil, or at least sinister, side to him as well. he can be cruel to people other than yuuki, especially when he's angry. he's also rather mean to zero (but i think that is perfectly understandable, hehe). he can also be very manipulative, as when he killed shizuka and let the blame be cast on zero, and when he let zero gain power by drinking his and yuuki's blood so that zero could help defeat rido. i think he's the type of guy who'd have no qualms about crushing somebody who stands in his way (except, maybe, if that person is yuuki). there's also something freaky about wanting to marry someone who's been brought up as your sister (even if it is a custom among purebloods, i think it's still sick).

maybe people get scared of kaname or feel that he is evil because we know so little about how he thinks and what he really feels. he's not the viewpoint character. but come to think of it, zero on the surface seems even meaner than kaname, yet people like him coz we know more about the pain he's been going through. kaname, on the other hand, seems so distant. people don't relate that much to him. i hope we'd be let in on kaname's feelings and thoughts more, but i doubt it... it's fine with me if he stays the mysterious, distant, out-of-everybody's-league guy (as what has been said, it also adds to his charm). i think yuuki is going to end up with zero anyway. waaaah i can't wait for the next chapters!
